The Science of Youth Training
Stronger, Safer, Smarter
At Youth Strength Academy, we utilise the latest research-backed principles in Youth Strength and Conditioning and long-term athletic development (LTAD) to develop our own athletic development framework. It's clear in the research that strength is a physical quality that can be developed safely at any age with safe and supervised practice. We offer the perfect balance between safe practice and maximising progress by prioritising technical proficiency and education, striving for relative strength progression over absolute strength while understanding the individualised nature of maturation rates. All cultivated in a gym environment that is fun and encourages healthy exercise behaviours.

Safe & Supervised
Structured, coach-led strength and conditioning is not only safe for kids, it reduces their injury risk during other activities. Gym-based injuries are far lower than organised sports because the field of play is unpredictable. In the gym, we control the variables like exercise selection, load, volume, and technique to maximise devlopment while mitigating risk.
The Window of Opportunity
Childhood and adolescence are unique phases of growth. During these years, the body responds to training in ways it never can later in life. By starting early, we capture the benefits of increased coordination, neural plasticity, and strength and power adaptations that set athletes apart forever.

thinking about the long-term
By starting early, you increase the time athletes have to progress in that skill. In simple terms, would you rather an athlete get their first gym membership at 16 having never trained before, or already have 6-10 years exerpeince having mastered all the core elements of resistance training. The reseach shows the earlier the start, the stronger the athlete in adulthood.
